Twenty-five years ago, a Kenyan nurse, a Kenyan community mobilizer and a UNC student came together in Kibera with one goal: get youth on the soccer field, healthy enough to play and united enough to make peace. Support our youth: https://cfkafrica.org/donate/ CFK Africa started with $26 and a tiny clinic in co-founder Tabitha Festo’s home. Because it was built with the community, not for it, the idea grew. In this video, CFK leaders Joshua Omweno and Binti Rashid share what that looks like 25 years later: Organized soccer that got a generation of Kibera’s kids showing up for their community A health facility that serves as a CDC disease surveillance site Safe spaces for girls, a model other organizations now use around the world Kibera Soccer Women FC, the first slum team to win Kenya’s national women’s cup Work that now reaches 26 slums across Kenya, including Still, I Rise, a book of teen mothers’ stories launched in August 2026 Now CFK Africa is launching the Youth Development Network, connecting youth across East Africa to opportunities, to mentors and to each other. Our goal is to reach one million youth. Every $25 connects one young person with opportunities that advance their development. 👉 Donate today: https://cfkafrica.org/donate/ 👉 Learn more: https://cfkafrica.org Chapters 0:00 Where it all began 0:38 Meet CFK leader Joshua Omweno 0:56 Meet CFK youth leader Binti Rashid 1:08 25 years of impact 1:42 The Youth Development Network 1:58 Somewhere in Kibera, right now… #CFKAfrica #WeAreTogether #Kibera #YouthDevelopment #StillIRise #Kenya #UNC
