Four Years in the Making: Betsy is Ready for the Road! After four incredible years of planning, building, and pouring our hearts into it, our home on wheels, Betsy, is finally complete! In this monumental Episode 26, we share the last 3 months of the build, the final push before embarking on our epic 112,000km expedition through 64 countries. We couldn't be happier with the outcome, and Betsy is now fully prepped for anything and everything the road throws our way. A game-changer has been her conversion to run on USED-COOKING OIL, providing a huge positive financial impact on our venture! Matches on the Map: A 10-Year Global Mission Begins! This isn't just an overlanding trip; it's the launch of the Matches on the Map project, the "world's first intercontinental stem cell donor recruitment drive". This ambitious mission, taking us an estimated 10 years to complete from South Africa to Vietnam, required a reliable, full-time traveling home and mechanical friend – Betsy. Built on a tight budget (less than the cost of a new pickup!) using ingenuity and available supplies, Betsy's unconventional build has been a path less chosen. Some argued that "reinventing the wheel" would lead to disappointment, but to date, Betsy has brought us nothing but comfort, joy, safety, and reliability. From Dream to Reality: The Journey Begins! There's still a LONG way to go and many challenges to face, but the time, sweat, and effort spent building Betsy were absolutely worth it. We've been overwhelmed by the awesome support from our friends, family, followers, and the local business community. Thank you for being such a crucial part of this project.
