Apply through a registered Gangtok travel agent or the Sikkim tourism office. The pass is usually closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Confirm the days before you travel. Dress warmly. It is very cold at this height. Carry gloves, a jacket and snow boots. Altitude sickness can happen. Go slowly, drink water and rest if needed. Weather and road conditions change quickly in snow.
