A Doc Jam is a collaborative documentary filmmaking process organized by CineCentral where filmmakers come together at a specific location or event and document what unfolds over the course of a single day. Everyone captures footage, and afterward all of the material is handed over to an editor who assembles it into a finished documentary. The “jam” aspect comes from the improvisational nature of the process—much like a jazz session, you don’t fully know what the final piece will become until you arrive, start filming, and respond to what’s happening in the moment. Curious Comic Con is the only free comic convention on Vancouver Island, hosted by Curious Comics at Country Club Centre Mall in Nanaimo, British Columbia. It brings together comic fans, creators, artists, and cosplayers in a public, accessible space centered around comics, illustration, and pop culture.
