Today marks Round 5 for Season 14 of the SimRacing International (SRi) GT3 Championship as brought to you on iRacing with this broadcast focused on Split A. We shall be bringing you all the racing action live from circuit-side!
To complete the first half of this season, we return to the USA for the Circuit of the Americas (COTA). Opened in 2012, this Hermann Tilke designed circuit pays homage to many other international circuits such as Silverstone and Bahrain as part of its 20 corners. Albeit that is not to say it does not have its own unique sections, none more so than the daunting uphill climb to its lap-opening hairpin “Big Red”. Still, regardless of the origin of its corners, the wide width of this 3.42 mile course shall offer plenty of overtaking opportunities!
In the ELITE class, the tide may be turning in the title fight after a first non-podium finish of the season for Ignas Vincerževskis in Montreal has seen his lead reduced to 12 points ahead of last round’s runner-up Axel Slijepcevic. Momentum sits with Slijepcevic, although he is not the only one on the rise with a first win for Adam Watson and a season best podium for Freddie Escott in Canada. Can Vincerževskis find a way to reassert his authority today?
In the PRO class, Alex Fretwell became our fourth winner in four rounds last week and with it has moved into the lead by 12 points ahead of Bobby Moss for whom Montreal was a round to forget. However, what both will do well to remember is how close the title fight is with eight different drivers visiting the podium so far and no one seemingly able to make a clean break!
Who shall make it to the midway point with a win in Texas? Tune in and find out!
