Synthesis of Mercury(II) chloride

This video shows how to to make mercury(II) chloride also known as mercuric chloride. Basically what is doing in the video is first mercury metal is converted to mercury nitrate. Then it is converted to mercury oxide and mercury chloride respectively. Warning ! Concentrate nitric and and hydrochloric acid are corrosive. Water soluble mercury compounds are extremely toxic.
