From 60,000 Shillings to 40 Million: Edina Prosper's VICOBA Success Story

Edina Prosper’s journey shows how small beginnings can grow into lasting change. After leaving school to care for her younger siblings, Edina started with very little capital. In 2009, she joined a VICOBA group established by PWC and TRIAS and received her first loan of 60,000 Tanzanian shillings, which she invested in tailoring and small income-generating activities. Over the years, VICOBA helped her save, access loans, invest, and grow. She built her own home, purchased land, and expanded into tailoring, food, a hair saloon, welding, a car wash, and poultry farming. Today, the combined value of her businesses and investments is more than 40 million Tanzanian shillings! Edina’s story is a powerful reminder that when women have access to capital, knowledge, confidence, and opportunities, they can transform not only their own lives, but create opportunities for others too.
