Playoff Push Slipping Away — Buccos Visit San Diego

On this edition of the Bucco Triple Play, join former Pirates third base coach Rich Donnelly, avid fan Don Sloan, and College World Series champion Bill Phillips as they break down the Pirates’ series loss to the Dodgers in Los Angeles and look ahead to the upcoming series against the San Diego Padres. The guys also continue the conversation surrounding the Pirates’ fading playoff hopes, as the race for the National League Wild Card tightens and other contenders continue to win. They’re joined by Jeff Kurkjian, son of acclaimed sportswriter and television analyst Tim Kurkjian, who offers an outside perspective on the Buccos. Jeff also shares his thoughts on the Wild Card race and whether any potential playoff teams have what it takes to win it all. In this edition of Rich’s Treasure Chest, Rich recalls former Pittsburgh Post-Gazette writer Paul Meyer, a passionate Big Red football fan. While covering a baseball game from the press box, Paul kept Rich informed about the score of a Big Red football game using hand signals. It was an unforgettable matchup, with the two teams combining for nearly 90 points! And don’t forget we want to hear What Yinz Are Sayin’!
