Looking for a different side of Rome, away from the famous tourist attractions? Welcome to Porta Portese Est, also known as Porta Portese 2, one of the large Sunday flea markets in the eastern part of Rome.
Located around Piazzale Pino Pascali and Viale Palmiro Togliatti, this lively open-air market offers visitors a chance to experience a more local side of Roman life.
Every Sunday, the market comes alive with rows of stalls, shoppers, colorful umbrellas, vans and hundreds of different products. You can browse through second-hand goods, clothing, shoes, household items, vintage objects, collectibles, antiques, books, records and many other interesting finds. The selection changes from week to week, which makes every visit a little different.
One of the most interesting things about Porta Portese Est is its atmosphere. Unlike the historic Porta Portese market in Trastevere, this market is located in the eastern part of Rome and has a more neighborhood and local character. It can be an interesting place for travelers who want to see everyday Roman life and discover places that are outside the traditional tourist routes.
If you enjoy flea markets, vintage shopping, bargain hunting, antiques and unusual objects, you can easily spend several hours walking between the stalls and looking for hidden treasures.
