On December 19-20, 1944, north of Bastogne, Major William Desobry’s armored task force from the 10th Armored Division and paratroopers of the 1st Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment fought German 2nd Panzer Division forces around Noville. This video follows the fog, mud, artillery, tank destroyers, collapsing communications, ammunition shortages, wounded evacuation, and the desperate withdrawal through Foy that turned a small roadblock into a costly delaying action during the Battle of the Bulge. Rather than treating Noville as an isolated last stand, the story shows how armor, infantry, artillery, medics, drivers, and maintenance crews worked together to slow the German advance and help buy time while Bastogne’s defenses took shape.
