Inside the Imperial Star Destroyer: we take apart the Imperial I-class Star Destroyer system by system, as if it were a real WWII battleship, from hull and turbolasers to reactor and weak point.
The ship we tour is the Devastator, Darth Vader's flagship and the last Imperial I built at Kuat. It is 1,600 meters long and carries 46,785 people: 9,235 officers, 27,850 enlisted crew and 9,700 stormtroopers, plus a wing of 72 TIE ships. We have modeled it inside and out to open it one system at a time.
In this film:
The wedge-shaped hull, the shield domes and the tractor beam targeting array
Six twin heavy turbolaser turrets, two ion cannon turrets, and why the guns often never fired at all
How the Devastator caught the Tantive IV over Tatooine, step by step, and why its gunners let the escape pod with the Death Star plans go
The hangar: TIE launch racks, Lambda shuttles, landing craft and walkers sent down one at a time
The crew: where 46,785 people sleep, the ISB officer aboard, and the paperwork of the Imperial Navy
The exposed bridge, from Hoth to the loss of the Executor at Endor
Logistics: 36,000 tonnes of cargo and two years without restocking. Does the math work?
Ion engines, hyperdrive classes, and how the Millennium Falcon hid on the Avenger's own hull
The power plant, the Sovereign lost over Mustafar, and a Star Destroyer struggling in the atmosphere of Sullust
Combat record at Scarif, Hoth and Endor, and the Devastator's end
The weak point: how rebels broke into hull sector 19-A of the Harbinger and flew the ship away
The verdict on the Empire's great hunting ship
