PRESIDENT BBM OPENS NEW NLEX-C5 LINK! 🇵🇭 FREE TOLL Until December 31, 2026! A NEW EXPRESSWAY IS NOW OPEN IN METRO MANILA! 🇵🇭 And the best news for motorists? FREE TOLL UNTIL DECEMBER 31, 2026! On October 29, 2026, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. led the official inauguration of the NLEX-C5 Northlink Segment 8.2 Section 1A in Valenzuela City. Today, October 30, I visited the newly opened expressway and drove through it myself to experience this new road connection firsthand. Join me on this POV drive as we explore the newly opened section and discuss the important announcements made during yesterday's inauguration. 🇵🇭 OFFICIAL OPENING AND GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the inauguration and inspection of the newly opened expressway, accompanied by: • President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. • Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon • Public Works Secretary Giovanni Lopez • Manuel V. Pangilinan – Chairman of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) • Gilbert Santa Maria – President and CEO of MPTC • Luis Reñon – President and General Manager of NLEX Corporation • Jayart Tugade – Executive Director of the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) 🚗 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS DURING THE OPENING Here are some of the important details announced during the inauguration: 1. FREE TOLL UNTIL DECEMBER 31, 2026 President Marcos announced that motorists can use the newly opened section without paying toll fees until the end of 2026. 2. TRAVEL TIME REDUCED FROM 40–45 MINUTES TO JUST 5 MINUTES One of the biggest benefits of this new road is the significant reduction in travel time between Quirino Highway and the NLEX Mindanao Toll Plaza. 3. TWO-KILOMETER EXPRESSWAY SECTION NOW OPEN The newly inaugurated Section 1A connects Quirino Highway in Quezon City to the NLEX Mindanao Toll Plaza in Valenzuela City. 4. EXPECTED TO SERVE 11,000 VEHICLES DAILY The new road is expected to accommodate approximately 11,000 vehicles every day. 5. OPEN 24 HOURS A DAY, SEVEN DAYS A WEEK The expressway accommodates all vehicle classes, providing motorists with another convenient travel option. 6. OPENED AHEAD OF SCHEDULE FOR UNDAS The President explained that the opening was expedited to help motorists traveling during the Undas holiday, particularly those visiting cemeteries such as Holy Cross Memorial Park. 🛣️ PART OF A BIGGER INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT The newly opened section is part of the larger 11.3-kilometer NLEX-C5 Northlink Segment 8.2 project. Once completed, the entire segment will extend from Mindanao Avenue to C5/C.P. Garcia near Katipunan Avenue, improving connectivity between northern and southern Metro Manila. The new connection also gives motorists coming from Quirino Highway more direct access to the NLEX Connector, providing another route toward Manila, the University Belt, and nearby cities. Northbound motorists can access the NLEX mainline and continue toward Central Luzon and the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX). 🇵🇭 ANOTHER BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: ₱120-BILLION ELEVATED ROAD PROJECT During the inauguration, President Marcos also announced a proposed ₱120-billion elevated road investment by the MVP Group, in coordination with the SM Group. The proposed elevated road will connect Balintawak in Quezon City to Bocaue, Bulacan.
