The Wicked Crimes of Martha Needle - One of Australia's Most Evil Killers

Martha Needle was an Australian serial killer active in the late 1800s, known for poisoning her victims with arsenic. She murdered her husband, three children, and later attempted to kill members of her fiancé’s family—all for insurance money. Initially seen as a grieving mother, suspicions arose when multiple relatives died under similar mysterious circumstances. Her crimes were eventually uncovered during the investigation of her fiancé’s brother's death. In 1894, she was convicted and executed by hanging. Needle’s case shocked Victorian society and remains one of Australia's most infamous historical crimes.
