My Biggest White Seabass Ever—This Strike Was VIOLENT!

We started the day drifting frozen squid among a fleet of boats, hoping to find white seabass and halibut. After several slow hours and one huge missed bite, we decided it was time to change tactics. Within minutes of switching to ball bouncing, Leroy and I hooked into a solid white seabass! That was only the beginning. After landing another big halibut—and missing it with the gaff three times—I adjusted my rig back down to the bottom. Seconds later, my chest camera captured one of the most violent strikes I’ve ever experienced. The fish was so heavy that I had to take the boat out of gear and use the motor to stay in control. After an incredible battle, Leroy struggled to pull it aboard—and we immediately knew it was special. The final weight: 42 pounds and 50 inches long! My previous personal best white seabass was only 27 pounds. This fish completely shattered it!
