US Midterm Elections 2026 Live: Democrats Eye Trump's Ohio, Iowa | Senate Battle Heats Up | N18G

DEMS TARGET RED STATES: Are Ohio and Iowa becoming competitive battlegrounds ahead of the 2026 US midterm elections? New CNN polls conducted by SSRS show Democrats gaining ground in two states that Donald Trump won by double-digit margins in the 2024 presidential election. Republicans currently control both Senate seats and state governments, but voter dissatisfaction with the economy and the direction of the country is reshaping the political conversation. The CNN polls were conducted by SSRS from September 29 to October 5, 2026, among 760 likely voters in Ohio and 801 in Iowa. Poll results are snapshots of voter opinion, not predictions of election outcomes. Can Democrats turn dissatisfaction into votes? What do these numbers say about Trump's influence in traditionally Republican states? And could Ohio and Iowa reshape the Senate battle?
