During the summer of 2024, my wife Lynn, our dog Zoey, and I, journeyed across Eastern Canada with 48 others to explore what's referred to as the "Canadian Maritimes" with Fantasy RV Tours. Our trip is officially called the "61-day Ultimate Eastern Canadian Provinces Tour". In this Episode, we venture out of the big cities of Montreal and Quebec and head north along the St. Lawrence River to Grand Metis, Gaspe Bay, and Perce. The views along the river were spectacular! While we enjoyed our time in Montreal and Quebec City, we were anxious to get into the "meat and potatoes" of the trip.
Grand Metis - Our Tour Leaders took great care of us all on this trip. On multiple occasions they provided cookouts, special treats, donuts, and coffee. At this stop they served up a delicious pancake breakfast. After breakfast we toured Reford Gardens. Later in the day we went to Centre d'Art Marcel Gagnon. It was located about 10 miles from the campground and included an art gallery and restaurant. But the most interesting exhibit was outside the building where we viewed his stone pillar art. We also took a short hike down a gravel driveway to view the Lighthouse at Pointe-au-Pere.
Gaspe Bay - Our campground in Gaspe Bay included a site layout that included rows of sites layered up a large hillside giving each of us a very nice view of the Bay. The campground is situated just outside Forillon National Park where there were multiple hiking trails viewpoints and historical sites. We hiked the Land's End Trail. On our drive to the trailhead we stopped at the historical, Wm. Hyman store.
Our Tour Leaders organized a beanbag baseball game that was a lot of fun. If I remember correctly, the women dominated the men in this game.
Perce - This campground was also built into a hillside allowing most of us with spectacular views of the Bay and Perce Rock. Our stay here included a boat tour of Perce Rock and Bonaventure Island. Followed by another delicious dinner at a restaurant at the marina. The following morning Lynn and and I got an up close look at Perce Rock as we inflated our kayak and paddled to Perce Rock and passed through the arch. Definitely a highlight of this trip for us! After we returned we went into town to do some shopping and site seeing. Later, we drove out of town to Emerald River Park & Waterfall. Here we took a hike to the waterfall which was a little more crowded than we expected but still a nice hike.
SPECIAL THANKS - This video, and those that will follow in this series, include photos taken by our fellow travelers. There were numerous photographers on our trip who captured some great photos that were posted on Facebook. I was able to include some of them to enhance the video.
In the next episode we enter New Brunswick and visit Campbellton and Caraquet, followed by a few days on Prince Edward Island.
THANKS FOR WATCHING!
