Was Augustine WRONG due to a Faulty Translation?

Romans 5:12 teaches that DEATH passed to all men, not guilt, death. And what's really dramatically ironic about the whole thing is that the Western view; that Romans 5:12 teaches that humans are born morally guilty before God, is actually based on a defective Greek manuscript that Augustine was using because it had been translated into Latin.
