If a man therefore purge himself... he shall be a vessel unto honour..." — 2 Tim 2:20-21 WHAT POVERTY DID JESUS COME TO HEAL? Many think poverty is only money. But Luke 4:18 shows Jesus came for 4 kinds of poor people - and these are exactly the WOOD & EARTH vessels of 2 Timothy 2:20! 1. THE POOR WHO NEED THE GOSPEL - The Empty Vessel "preach the gospel to the poor" This is the wood vessel - in church but empty, coming to church but no Word, religious but no relationship. You are spiritually bankrupt. Jesus says I am anointed FOR YOU. Your emptiness attracts His gospel. 2. THE BROKENHEARTED WHO NEED HEALING - The Cracked Vessel "heal the brokenhearted" This is the cracked clay vessel - broken by disappointment, betrayal, sin, failure. You cannot hold oil because you are leaking. Before God makes you a vessel of HONOR, He must heal your crack. He came to heal you first, then use you. 3. THE CAPTIVES WHO NEED DELIVERANCE - The Bound Vessel "preach deliverance to the captives" This is the vessel that is present in the great house but tied - captive to youthful lusts (2 Tim 2:22 says FLEE youthful lusts). Pornography, anger, alcohol, gossip. You are in the house but not usable because you are bound. The anointing breaks the chain so you can be purged. 4. THE BLIND WHO NEED SIGHT - The Dark Vessel "recovering of sight to the blind" This is the vessel that cannot see its purpose. You don't know why God created you. You think you are only wood, only clay. Jesus came to open your eyes to see - you can be GOLD! HOW WOOD BECOMES GOLD: Luke 4:18 is the PROCESS, 2 Timothy 2:21 is the RESULT. Gospel preached → Heart healed → Captive delivered → Eyes opened = PURGED & BECOMES VESSEL UNTO HONOUR, SANCTIFIED, MEET FOR THE MASTER'S USE! You were not created to remain clay! In this great house in Mombasa, God wants to turn your poverty into honor! TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord Jesus, I bring my poverty to You. Preach to me, heal me, deliver me, open my eyes.
