Oxford University Press Southern Africa interviews Zakes Mda about his book, The Heart of Redness. Zakes Mda speaks about the reasons for writing this book set in the mid-nineteenth century, in the Eastern Cape village of Qolorha, about a young girl called Nongqawuse who brought a message from the ancestors to the amaXhosa people.
