The E7 Turnaround: When the E7 hits at the end of the section, outline the chord by target-landing on its major 3rd, the note G# (4th fret, E string or 6th fret, D string). Mixing A Harmonic Minor (A, B, C, D, E, F, G#) over this chord adds that classic dramatic tension. Section B: Primary Scales: A Natural Minor (Aeolian), A Blues Scale, F Lydian phrasing over Fmaj7. Tip – Lean into the Chords: Section B moves through more harmonic color. Target chord tones on the big changes: Over Fmaj7: Emphasize the note E (the major 7th) for a lush, melancholy feel. Over Am/G: Highlight the descending bassline by lingering on the G note. Over D7: Shift briefly to the A Dorian scale (A, B, C, D, E, F#, G) to capture that bright F# note inside the D7 chord.
