For $14: More Water Clarity! No Cyano, Vermetid Snail? Lower Nutrients? Testing out DIY Coral Snow.

The concept of Coral Snow has been floating around for awhile and still being used by some of the OGs in the hobby. Dosing a mixture of Calcium Carbonate + RODI water in order to create a flocculant that binds smaller particles together into larger ones so they could be removed by mechanical filtration. I tested this out for 6 weeks, so far water clarity has certainly improved, cyano did go away, and I did have a pretty drastic nutrients drop (not sure if related).
