Episode 5: Visible Faith | Part 5 | Watch Your Mouth

Our words have extraordinary power, and James uses vivid pictures—a bit in a horse’s mouth, a rudder on a ship, and a spark that starts a forest fire—to show how something small can have enormous consequences. But James ultimately points beyond the tongue to the heart, exposing the contradiction of using the same mouth to praise God and tear down people made in His image. Our speech is a window into what is happening within us. The message should challenge us to take our words seriously, recognize what our speech reveals about our hearts, and allow God to transform not only what we say, but what is happening within us.
