You never know what's going to walk through the doors of a retro video game store—and Sundays at Gamers Alley might be the best example. What starts as another busy Sunday quickly turns into trade after trade after trade. We're evaluating a cosmetically damaged PS5, talking about an $850 collectible card, checking retro games, and trying to keep up with everything coming across the counter. Then one of our longtime customers pulls up with an entire collection. We head into the parking lot and start unloading boxes packed with Legend of Zelda, Pokémon, Nintendo, anime, vintage VHS tapes, collectibles, games and some seriously unusual pieces she's collected over the years. Along the way, we're talking about everything from Ocarina of Time vs. Majora's Mask to Pokémon movie memorabilia, Japanese collectibles and what it's actually like evaluating large trades inside a working retro game store. Some of these items have been part of her collection since childhood—which makes deciding what to sell a little harder.
