Teagasc Student of the Year 2020 - Denis O'Donoghue

Denis O'Donoghue is a finalist for the Teagasc Student of the Year Award 2020. Denis attended the Macroom office for the Teagasc Green Certificate Part-time Programme. He wished to further his ambition of obtaining a livestock auctioneer license. He recently became mart manager at Cork Marts Skibbereen with responsibility for over 20 full-time and part-time mart staff. COVID resulted in mart shutdowns and precipitated to online selling which requires new approaches and skills. The Teagasc Green Cert gave Denis the knowledge and insights into farming to help him communicate with his farmer clients. His immediate goal is to develop his managerial experience and ability at Skibbbereen Mart.
