I want to get back into hobbies—but with shelves of unread books, unopened craft supplies, unfinished games, and years of collected ideas, choosing where to start feels like its own project.
So I’m creating a low-pressure fall syllabus: not a to-do list, but a prepared menu of books, crafts, skills, games, and experiences I can reach for when I have the time and energy.
This experiment isn’t about finishing everything or becoming an extremely accomplished hobby person by the end of fall. It’s about reducing the friction, following my genuine curiosity, and discovering what brings me joy now—without turning creativity into another obligation.
In this video, I’m exploring:
Why wanting hobbies hasn’t been enough to help me begin
The creative supplies I packed away four years ago
How decision fatigue keeps pushing me toward productivity or doom-scrolling
The questions I used to choose my fall interests
What made my fall syllabus
The rules keeping this experiment flexible and pressure-free
Maybe the things we haven’t started don’t have to become evidence that we’ve failed ourselves. Maybe they can become invitations to get curious again.
What’s one thing you’ve wanted to explore but haven’t given yourself permission to begin? Tell me your smallest possible first step in the comments.
Subscribe if you’d like to see what I actually reach for, what I abandon, and whether this syllabus creates freedom or pressure by the end of the season.
