A solo motorcycle travel film through Wakayama Prefecture, Japan — riding alone down the Pacific coast through some of the strongest wind I have ever faced on a motorcycle. After the noise, traffic, and pressure of Osaka, the road finally opened up again. The plan was simple: follow the Wakayama coast south, stay close to the ocean, find somewhere to camp, and let the journey settle back into the rhythm of the road. But Wakayama had other ideas. What began as a peaceful coastal ride quickly turned into one of the hardest riding days of Project 47 so far. The wind kept building along the coast, pushing across the road, catching the bike in sudden gusts, and turning what should have been a beautiful ride south into a long fight to stay focused and keep moving. Solo motorcycle travel is not always dramatic because of distance. Sometimes it is the weather. Sometimes it is fatigue. Sometimes it is the mental strain of riding for hours through conditions that never give you a break. This is not a Wakayama travel guide. It is a solo motorcycle journey through Japan — one rider, one motorcycle, and the experience of crossing a prefecture by road. The route continues south along the coast toward campsites, small encounters, rough weather, strange coastal landscapes, and eventually Nachi Falls — a place I had wanted to see for more than 20 years. But the real story is not the destination. It is the ride that led there. After Osaka, I thought Wakayama would be a reset. Instead, it became a reminder that even when the road looks beautiful, the journey can still fight back. This is another chapter in Project 47 — a long-form motorcycle travel documentary series following a solo ride through all 47 prefectures of Japan.
