Off the Chart Concrete Mixture Proportioning

Teck L. Chua, President, Vulcan Materials Company, Springfield, VA This session will present the modern methods of mixture design currently in use. The absolute volume method, presented for almost 60 years, is little used in the industry. Designing mixtures using marginal and nontraditional materials for sustainable, performance, and economic reasons has led to the development of other mixture proportion techniques. The presentations will be made by practitioners who design and proportion mixtures on a daily basis to meet the needs of the designer, placer, and finisher.
