Starting in the free car park we work our way through the rabbit warren and turn right on to the ridge. Turning right on to the ride we begin a steadier ascent along The Edge and soon find our way to our first Wainwright, Unlock Pike. Continuing along Longside Edge it is a steady walk to our second Wainwright Long Side, which offers spectacular views down to Derwent Water and the surrounding Fells. After admiring some of the best views in the lake district it is a steady up and down to our third Wainwright in this chain, Carl Side. The path to Dodd takes a notable descent to White Stones and then we take a traverse as we continue on to meet Dodd. Dodd is wooded and makes for an easy walk up steady paths. The top gives rewarding views over Bassenthwaite Lake and after picking up our fourth Wainwright we head once again through the woods toking the Skill Beck trail down to the cafe before completing our last section of the woodland walk to Sandbeds Gill and back to the car.
