What We Became is the third track from Life - the point where the story moves from childhood into adulthood, and the things buried beneath the surface begin to take their toll. From sixteen through to my early twenties, life became increasingly difficult. Depression, hospital stays, drinking, self-harm, and a destructive relationship all became part of the story. Two people who were hurting ended up hurting each other, and somewhere along the way, it became difficult to recognise who either of us had become.
