Every runner has a story. During the Black Copperhead Sting, those stories come together on the trails of Rocky Branch Park in Belmont, North Carolina.
Filmed during the August 2026 race weekend, the documentary by filmmaker Shundell Prasad explores the personal journeys behind the miles. Follow runners as they prepare for the 20 and 50K ultra races, overcome personal challenges, pursue ambitious goals, reconnect with their community, and find strength through running.
For one family, race day becomes a story of love, sacrifice, and overcoming health setbacks. For another runner, returning to the trails means reconnecting with a community that has meant the world to him. Others are pushing toward new milestones or finding healing and resilience through running after life’s most difficult moments.
More than a race, The Black Copperhead Sting is a celebration of perseverance, connection, and the people who make the trail running community what it is. It’s also an invitation to discover Belmont, where outdoor adventure and a welcoming downtown come together just outside Charlotte.
Whether you’re a trail runner, an outdoor enthusiast, or simply someone who appreciates a good story, discover what makes The Black Copperhead Sting and Belmont worth experiencing.
