Welcome to the High Tatras National Park! Today, we’re taking you to the highest point in Poland—and experiencing what was easily the most beautiful, yet most dangerous hike of our lives. Starting early at 5:30 AM, we entered the Tatra National Park near Zakopane. The route to Poland's highest peak (Rysy at 2,499m) is no joke: 27 km long, nearly 1,600 meters of elevation gain, and a total time of 12 to 15 hours. The trek starts gently along the paved road and around the stunning Morskie Oko (Eye of the Sea) lake, before heading up to Czarny Staw (Black Pond). From there, the real challenge begins. Steep stone steps turn into cable-secured, via-ferrata-style rock faces. In this video, we share why proper gear (like hiking boots and climbing gloves) is a must, why bottlenecks and crowds at the chains can turn a fun climb into a 4-hour nightmare, and why mass tourism in the high mountains can become genuinely life-threatening. Would you climb Rysy on a weekend? Let us know your thoughts in the comments! 🎒 Trail Info & Gear: Highest Point: 2,499 m (Rysy - Polish Summit) Starting Point: Palenica Białczańska (Parking reservation required!) Best Season: June to October (mostly snow-free) Recommended Gear: Sturdy hiking boots, via ferrata gloves, weather-resistant clothing, plenty of water/snacks, and optionally a helmet. 💬 Join the conversation: Do you think visitor numbers on Rysy should be limited?
