In the year ending March 2025, one airline made more money than any other on Earth — not an American giant, not a European legacy carrier, but an airline from a desert city with barely three million people. Emirates posted a record AED 22.7 billion ($6.2 billion) profit before tax on AED 145.4 billion in revenue, carrying 53.7 million passengers to 148 cities in 80 countries. It started in 1985 with just $10 million and two leased planes. Today it operates 116 Airbus A380s — nearly half of all Superjumbos ever built — and turns geography, luxury, and cargo into a money-printing machine. This is how Emirates makes money.
