Sotheby's Talks | Diego Maradona's Hand of God Shirt with Glenn Hoddle

Former England football player Glenn Hoddle, Director of the Design Museum Tim Marlow and Sotheby’s Head of Modern Collectibles Brahm Wachter will be discussing the 1986 World Cup match between England and Argentina, in which Diego Maradona scored the notorious ‘Hand of God’ goal. Following the match, England midfielder Stev eHodge – who had unintentionally flicked the ball to Maradona on the “ Hand of God” play – approached Maradona and swapped shirts with him to the dismay of his teammates. Hoddle will give his on-pitch perspective of the controversial goal and thoughts on Hodges’ efforts to acquire the shirt. Maradona’s iconic shirt will now be offered on the market for the first time and is a tangible reminder of that critical moment, making it arguably the most coveted football shirt to ever come to auction.
