Nancy Wake: The Spy Who Helped Fight for France

Nancy Wake began the war as an adventurous journalist living in France. After witnessing the brutality of Nazi rule, she joined the resistance, helping move people and messages through occupied territory. The Gestapo gave her a chilling nickname: “The White Mouse.” This documentary follows Wake from her early resistance work and narrow escape from France to her training with Britain’s Special Operations Executive. Parachuted back into occupied France, she worked with the Maquis, helping organize fighters and coordinate supplies. When her group lost its radio, Wake set out on a dangerous bicycle journey to restore contact with London. Her courage came at a personal cost. While Wake fought to help liberate France, her husband Henri remained behind, where the Gestapo pressured him for information. This is the story of a determined resistance fighter, the risks she took, and the people and losses that shaped her wartime life. Watch to discover how a journalist became one of the most wanted women in Nazi-occupied Europe. If you enjoy true stories of courage, resistance, and history, subscribe for more documentaries.
