Beanibazar Upazila is an important upazila of Sylhet district, which has long been known as an area of ​​education, trade and expatriate population. There are various legends about the origin of the name Beanibazar. According to the most common opinion, a traditional market known as "Biani" or "Biani" was once established in this area. A permanent market, settlement and later the name "Beanibazar" gradually came into being around that market. However, there are multiple opinions among historians about the origin of the name and no specific documentary explanation is available. Beanibazar became known as an important trading center during the British rule. It was the main market for the people of the surrounding area for buying and selling agricultural products, fish, paddy, rice, betel nut, betel and various daily necessities. Due to its geographical location, the region also had commercial contacts with the border areas of India. Beanibazar developed rapidly after independence. It is currently one of the most important upazilas in Sylhet for education, business, banking, healthcare and the expatriate economy. Beanibazar has close ties with a large number of expatriates living in various countries around the world, including the UK, which plays an important role in the local economy and development. Today, Beanibazar is known as an important center of the Sylhet region, combining modern infrastructure, vibrant markets, educational institutions and rich cultural heritage.
