What kind of King is Jesus?
In Matthew 21, Jesus enters Jerusalem at the height of Passover—when the city was remembering God’s deliverance through the blood of a lamb. But this time, the true Lamb had arrived.
He did not come as a political conqueror.
He came as the promised Substitute.
In this sermon, we walk verse-by-verse through the Triumphal Entry and see three clear truths:
Jesus arrived exactly according to God’s plan
Jesus was praised—but deeply misunderstood
Jesus forced a response that still divides people today
The crowds cried “Hosanna,” but many did not truly understand who He was. And the same question they asked then still confronts us now:
“Who is this?”
This message calls you to move beyond surface-level religion and respond rightly to Jesus—not just with words, but with true faith and obedience.
If you’ve ever wondered:
What Palm Sunday really means
Why Jesus rode a donkey instead of coming in power
Whether it’s possible to honor Jesus and still misunderstand Him
…this sermon is for you.
Key Takeaways:
Trust God’s plan—even when it doesn’t look like what you expected
Don’t just praise Jesus—know Him, trust Him, and obey Him
You cannot remain neutral—every person must answer who Jesus is
Join us as we continue The Long Road to the Cross and see why the King entered Jerusalem—not to take a throne, but to go to the cross.
