Kawaiʻulaokalā Ke Kumu Keliʻihoʻomalu Puchalski ʻAiea & Kaiwiʻula, Oʻahu “ʻO Kalena Kai” This mele, originally a chant by King Liholiho, was set to music by Charles E. King and honors the wahi pana of the Waialua Moku. King Liholiho wrote this in remembrance of a visit to Waialua in the early 1820s, when he and Kaʻahumanu stopped there on their way to Kauaʻi. Kaʻala, the highest mountain on Oʻahu, and Kalena, the second highest peak, stand majestically above.
