Z1 was acting up, arpeggiator was erratic, sometimes I would turn a filter and the BPM would speed up and slow down (WTF?). Of course there is little info on the web for a 20 year old synth, so I hope this teardown slideshow helps someone else get inside their machine and fix it up. I used DeOxId contact cleaner which contains solvent and lubricant. I also applied a generous amount of Craigs FaderLube to the moving parts. Canned air and a vacuum also helped to get TONS of junk out of the keybed. Lint-free wipes were used to clean off the excess spray. I tried to keep everything organized, labeled the wire-harnesses, and segregated the screws into containers which facilitated an easy reassembly. In the end it was a successful endeavor and the Z1 is back to normal! Background music is a medley with a Nintendo Korg M01D and the Korg Z1.
