After days of long drives and exploring the beautiful landscapes of Ladakh, Day 18 was all about slowing down and exploring the heart of Leh! ❤️ We started our morning leisurely in Leh, giving our bodies the much-needed rest and acclimatisation. Since Leh is situated at a high altitude, allowing 24–48 hours for proper acclimatisation is important before heading to higher-altitude destinations. After a simple breakfast of bread, jam and hot tea, we headed straight to Leh Market to explore a special location that movie lovers will recognise! 🎬 Dhurandhar Movie Shooting Spot – Washma Butt Restaurant We visited the famous cafe/restaurant where the Shah Khan restaurant scene from the movie Dhurandhar was recreated. To make the experience even more special, we hired the same costume worn by Ranveer Singh in the movie, ordered tea and recreated the iconic scene ourselves! A memorable experience for every movie lover! 🏰 Exploring the Historic Leh Palace Our next stop was the magnificent Leh Palace, one of the most iconic historical landmarks in Ladakh. Leh Palace was built in the 17th century by King Sengge Namgyal. It was once the royal residence of the Namgyal dynasty. The palace has nine storeys and is inspired by the architecture of the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet. It offers beautiful panoramic views of Leh town, the surrounding mountains and the Indus Valley. Today, it stands as an important reminder of Ladakh’s royal history, culture and architectural heritage. 🙏 Shanti Stupa – A Symbol of Peace Next, we visited the beautiful Shanti Stupa, located on a hilltop in Chanspa, Leh. Shanti Stupa was inaugurated in 1991 as part of a peace initiative promoting world peace and harmony. It was built with the support of Japanese Buddhist monks and Ladakhi Buddhists. The white-domed structure houses beautiful Buddhist reliefs depicting important events from the life of Lord Buddha. Situated at approximately 11,841 feet above sea level, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of Leh and the surrounding Himalayan mountains. The stupa looks especially beautiful during sunset, when the golden sunlight illuminates the entire landscape. 🌃 Ending the Day at Leh Market After exploring these incredible landmarks, we returned to Leh Market, enjoyed the lively atmosphere and finally stopped at a local cafe to enjoy a steaming hot bowl of Bisi Bisi Thukpa! 🍜 A relaxed, memorable and movie-filled day in the beautiful town of Leh! Stay tuned as our Bengaluru to Ladakh road trip continues with more breathtaking destinations, unexpected adventures and unforgettable experiences! ❤️ If you enjoyed this episode, don’t forget to LIKE, SHARE, COMMENT and SUBSCRIBE to FoodyMonk! ⸻ 📍 Places Covered 1.
