Idylls of the Last King - A Year at the End of Time (album, 2026) dungeon synth

Welcome to the first album of this week’s Dungeon Synth Sunday session. It has been some time and several intervening albums since I featured Cypriot project Idylls of the Last King on the channel, and today I am very pleased to present his latest album, A Year at the End of Time. An adept hand at creating an epic, immersive, cinematic style of fantasy world-building dungeon synth, this new album is a tale told over the four seasons, depicting the ominously final cycle of a world approaching its end through powerfully emotive ambience. Each season is given character, with chill drones and blooming melodies of the winter and spring, beaming warmth and cooling rustle of the summer and autumn, marking their final appearances with a flourish and poignant farewell.
