THE GREEN HILLS OF EARTH by Robert A. Heinlein

An interstellar troubadour faces what could be his final choice, in circumstances as epic as those about which he's always sung. Originally published in the February 8, 1947 issue of The Saturday Evening Post, which reprinted it in their Fantasy & Science Fiction Reader in 1964. Re-published in far too many anthologies to name, but a few are: Strange Ports of Call in 1948, Invasion from Mars: Interplanetary Stories selected by Orson Welles in 1949, and The World Treasury of Science Fiction in 1989. Some appearances in collections of the author's stories include: The Green Hills of Earth in 1951, The Robert Heinlein Omnibus in 1958, The Past Through Tomorrow in 1967, and The Best of Robert Heinlein in 1973. A very happy birthday to this story's requestor. I own no copyright to this work, only give it my voice. Read by Darrell T. Smith II for my channel Quasar Spectra.
