HOW THE MICROPHONE CONNECTION WORKS The RCA audio balun converts the microphone's RCA audio connection to the two-lead audio wiring used by compatible PTZ and IP cameras. It passes the audio signal only and does not power the microphone. On the LIVECAMPTZ shown in this video, the white wire is Audio In and the black wire is common/ground. Make sure the connections are tight and that exposed conductors cannot touch each other. Loose or incorrect wiring can cause humming or poor audio. The same basic microphone connection method can also be used with other compatible CCTV Camera World cameras that have an external audio input, including our 4K live-streaming PTZ cameras and high-frame-rate IP cameras. Always verify the Audio In, ground, connector type, and power requirements for the specific camera before connecting a microphone. POWER AND CABLE LENGTH The LIVECAMPTZ is a 12V DC camera supplied with a 30W PoE injector and 2A PoE power splitter so power and network data can travel over one Ethernet cable before being separated at the camera. For a permanent installation, we recommend powering additional accessories such as a microphone separately instead of adding accessories to the LIVECAMPTZ PoE power splitter. This is especially important on longer cable runs. If the PTZ restarts while moving, zooming, or using infrared, insufficient available power should be checked. This demonstration uses approximately 150 feet of solid-copper Cat5e. We recommend good-quality solid-copper Cat5e or Cat6 for long camera installations. AUDIO GAIN, HUM AND FEEDBACK The outdoor microphone has an adjustable gain control. If the microphone and monitoring speaker are too close together, you may hear feedback or audio collision. Increase the distance between them and adjust the microphone gain as needed. OUTDOOR INSTALLATION Mount the microphone facing downward in a protected location and keep the audio balun, power connections, and Ethernet connections inside a suitable weather-resistant junction box. Do not expose the microphone or wiring connections directly to water.
