We Bought a Wisconsin Resort | Our Dream, Our Story & What Came Next

We dreamed about owning a resort for years, and in 2018 that dream finally became real when we purchased Pinecrest Resort in northern Wisconsin. In this video, I’m sharing the story behind that dream — how our offer was accepted on our anniversary, how we closed on my birthday, what it was like owning and running a Wisconsin resort, and how life eventually led us into a new chapter. For five years, Pinecrest Resort was more than a business. It was a place filled with family memories, lake days, guests, hard work, laughter, and plenty of lessons along the way. Eventually, we made the decision to simplify, sell two of the cottages, and keep two for our own family getaway, now known as Camp Weber. And there was one more little piece of Pinecrest that came home with us — an old fishing boat that once sat along the shores of Pickerel Lake. Today, that boat has a completely different purpose as a pond in our backyard, and I love that a small piece of our resort story will always be with us. This chapter didn’t end exactly the way we once imagined it would, but I think that’s part of life. Dreams can change shape, and sometimes letting go of one version of a dream makes room for something new.
