Is this where we’re heading again — back toward a moment when a nation must decide what it stands for — only this time the danger doesn’t march in wearing English uniforms, but arrives quietly, through influence, pressure, and a slow takeover that chips away at who we are? You can feel it in the air: not the roar of an occupying army, but the steady hum of forces that reshape a country without firing a single shot. And if we don’t pay attention, if we don’t hold fast to the things that make us who we are, we might wake one morning to find the change already done — not by conquest, but by erosion.
Now the danger comes dressed as progress, influence, and convenience — a takeover without a battle, unless we choose to make one.
The rain fell down on Henry Street, the cobbles soaked in red,
The drums of war they beat so loud, the words of freedom said.
The men walked out in trench coats, with rifles held on high,
To tear the chains of England down, beneath a bitter sky.
Oh, let the pipes ring out tonight, for the ones who stood so tall!
With a flash of steel, and a heartbeat real, they answered freedom's call!
Though the land is scarred, and the skies are dark, our spirit shall not fall,
For the streets of Ireland, yeah, the streets of Ireland, belong to us all!
We built her with our bleeding hands, from mountain, bog, and sea,
The fires of the Black and Tan could never burn the free.
The famine took the children, the ships took them away,
But the heart of old Éireann still breathes in us today.
Weep for the sons, weep for the daughters,
Lost to the tides, lost to the waters.
The dream lives on, a flame still burning,
For our homeland's sweet returning.
Now hear the whisper on the wind, across the lonely glen,
The stories of the fallen men, they call us back again.
We'll keep the fire burning bright, no matter what they say,
For Ireland's sons and daughters, we will never fade away.
Belong to us all!
