Teaching in Nigeria: What Teachers in a Kuje Public School Want You to Know

Nobody really asks teachers how it feels to be a teacher, so we went to Gaube and asked fellows of the Teacher Bank Project (TBP). Read the full story: therhfoundation.org We spent a morning at Junior Secondary School Gaube with the teachers we placed there through the Teacher Bank Project, and we did not ask them about curriculum or targets; we asked them about the teacher who shaped them, about what their parents said when they announced they were going into teaching, about the way people's faces change when they say what they do for a living, and about the students they still think about long after they have left the school. What they told us was funny in places and heavy in others, and all of it was honest.
