Herbivores demanded a factory of their own. Last month it was squirrels and a steampunk kitchen in Burning Springs. This time I parked at Aaronholt, where ten pristine cranberry bushes come back every day, and built the other half of that pantry. No bog. No baddies. You walk the field, pick what you need, and you’re already home. The Berry Patch is a working farm that doesn’t pretend to be anything else. You’ll find every farmable crop here, with pumpkins and cranberries in the next field. The centerpiece is a ramshackle produce stand that looks like it’s been charging caps since before the bombs. Out back, a renovated mid-century trailer makes a cozy home on wheels. The jam house is the heart of it. Slices of cobbler on the counter, and a cauldron of cranberries going the whole time you’re there. Every thing you need to make relish is here: Sugar, gourds, boiled water, the berries themselves. Make 10 jars a day if you feel like cooking. Then you can do it again tomorrow! Cranberry Relish is the herbivore counterpart of Tasty Squirrel Stew. +10% XP for an hour on its own. +20% with Herbivore. +25% with Herbivore and Strange In Numbers. If you’ve been meaning to plant a starter camp somewhere that feeds you, this is the spot. Recipe: 2 Cranberries, 1 Gourd, 1 Sugar, 1 Boiled Water. Herbivore + Strange In Numbers = +25% XP for an hour.
