The Siliguri Corridor—widely known as India’s “Chicken Neck”—is one of the country’s most strategically sensitive connectivity zones, linking mainland India with the Northeast. In this special defence and geopolitical analysis, we examine the dramatic claims surrounding an alleged transformation of the Siliguri Corridor and the idea of expanding its strategic depth from around 22 kilometres to 42 kilometres through military infrastructure, alternate routes, logistics networks and integrated security planning.
