A Thousand Dreams is a mystical Celtic-inspired ballad about love, longing, remembrance, and the mysterious journey of the human soul. It began with a poem written to me by my dear friend Nasser Butt, Editor of Lift Hands Magazine and a superlative martial artist in the classical tradition of the Five Excellences, where the martial arts are joined with philosophy, poetry, scholarship, art, and the cultivation of the human spirit. Nasser's poem touched me deeply, and A Thousand Dreams became my musical and poetic response to him. The song begins with simple and intimate memories: shoes left beside a door covered in morning dew, the warmth of a cheek, the softness of hair brushing across a face, fingers resting within another hand, two people walking together beneath the moon, and words and stories that were never spoken. Yet as the song developed, the meaning of the Beloved gradually changed. What begins as a deeply personal love song becomes a meditation upon a much greater mystery. Within the mystical and Sufi traditions, the language of the lover and the Beloved can carry many meanings. The Beloved may be the person we love, but the Beloved may also represent God, the Manifestation of God, the human soul, or the Divine Beauty for which the soul has been searching throughout its spiritual journey. Human love can therefore become a metaphor for another kind of longing: the ancient longing of the soul to rediscover its Source. Perhaps some people enter our lives not so that we may possess them, but so that something sleeping within us may awaken. Perhaps the faces we love sometimes become windows through which we glimpse a greater Beauty. Perhaps what we recognize in another person is something eternal that neither of us owns, yet both of us reflect. That idea became the heart of A Thousand Dreams. The music and imagery move through memory, dreams, moonlight, wind, stars, silence, separation, surrender, and reunion. The accompanying music video was created to preserve that ambiguity. Some images suggest human love, while others move beyond the physical world toward light, clouds, celestial spaces, veils, reflections, and the mysterious landscape of the soul. At its deepest level, A Thousand Dreams asks a simple question: What if the love we spend our lives searching for has always been nearer than we imagined? Perhaps beneath every human longing there is another longing. Beneath every beautiful face there is another Beauty. Beneath every light there is another Sun. And perhaps the deepest love does not bind two souls together by possession, but awakens them to the Light they have always shared. I have slept through a thousand dreams In the hope of finding you. A thousand dreams A thousand dreams. And when the journey finally reaches its end: We were two windows Open to the same sun And love was the light that made us one. A Thousand Dreams is offered with affection and gratitude to Nasser Butt, whose poem planted the seed from which this song grew. Music and lyrics: Gregory T. This mystical song is about love and longing, where the traveler can never tell whether the call comes from the bird, the flute, or longing itself. Dreamlike poetry set to music, with a melody that pulls you gently toward something you cannot name. Made for listeners who love mystical poetry, contemplative music and songs that feel like a quiet invitation. Best heard at night with headphones, when the world is quiet enough to hear what the flute is saying. Spiritual music for the seeker in everyone. mystical song, love and longing, mystical poetry, spiritual music, contemplative music, nightingale and flute
