Tarragona is a port city located in Catalonia, in northeastern Spain. Formerly a Roman colony named Tarraco, numerous ancient ruins bear witness to its past. The Tarragona amphitheater is a 2nd-century arena facing the Mediterranean Sea, the necropolis contains Roman tombs, and remains of the forum stand among the alleys of the fortified medieval old town.
