Classic outlaw country out of nine days in August — two hours of old country songs, one grass fire, one county.
August 1976, a fire jumped a county road west of Sperling and burned nine days before the rain came. These are the people who were in it — a man who saw it start and will not say what he saw, a woman who packed her car and unpacked it, sixty-three-year-old volunteer chief with eleven men and one pumper, a fellow whose fenceline burned who has wanted it gone for eleven years. Classic country, outlaw country and honky-tonk cut the way it was cut in the seventies. Nobody in here is asking to be rescued.
Every track here is an original recording made for Blacktop Radio.
